new information on baltimore city's speed camera program. >> some investigation reported that three cameras had been erroneously issuing tickets. we have learned that the systems vendor launched an investigation of its sound and the results might surprise you. >> baltimore city's speed camera program has become a flashpoint for drivers after an investigation reported erroneous readings from at least three locations. it is a controversy that has literally shut down the street on the 1300 block of west coldspring lane. the contractor, xerox, conducted a massive test of the camera in eastbound on december 1 and second. city police closed all three lanes, sent a sedan, a minivan, and a 16-foot u-haul truck on repeated test runs clocked by a hand-held police radar guns and they could not recreate the

problem. in this document, xerox tells the city's transportation director 189 valid test runs were completed and all speed readings were within the expected tolerance without anomalies. the letter also reveals that, since november 29, three cameras under heavy scrutiny come east and west down on coldspring and southbound in the 3800 block of green spring avenue, are still taking pictures, but not to issue tickets. the city agreed to put up processing -- to put a process involved. there remain operational to allow for collection of additional data. the dot said in a statement -- "the department of transportation continues to work with this vendor to investigate possible errors while the task force reviews the entire program because our goal is to have 100% accuracy." the dot plans to implement the four recommendations that xerox

outlined in this letter. retrain personnel who reviewed tickets, continue the ticket hold on cameras in question, and marked the roadways with progression lines. xerox says its audit of all 75 fixed pole speed cameras in the city will be finished on friday. the dot also pointed out that, since the camera program started two years ago, they have seen a 58% drop in red light running another drop in speeding in some spots. >> for the first time in maryland, a gay and lesbian couples can apply for marriage licenses. it allows same-sex partners a whole host of options, but when it comes to federal issues, there will not enjoy the same benefits that they're heterosexual counterparts enjoy. >> even though maryland will soon recognize same-sex marriage, it is not recognized on the federal level gay couples will need to be careful when it comes to taxes and financial planning.

they recommend same-sex couples meet with an attorney, an accountant and a financial planner to combine their assets when necessary and keeping them separate when necessary. income taxes will be especially complicated. >> oftentimes, when you do -- when you file jointly by the state level, you take information from your federal taxes and put them in your state taxes. so you have to look at them into the real silos and look at them separately. >> he says he will continue to tell couples the same thing he has always told them. >> that they keep track of every dollar they put into each account or towards the household, making sure that they can account for each dollar from each individual. >> he also says that gay couples who even to get divorced could run into a state tax issues at the federal level when dividing assets. >> right now, we're following a developing story out of baltimore county. a female teenager was a salted.

-- was assaulted. police sacontinued to search tht area for one suspect. the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of what was described as a non-life- threatening injury. >> charged with sexually abusing three girls when there were students, 37-year-old clarence taylor has been suspended from his job as a daytime teacher's aide. he is accused of inappropriately touching the girls numerous times. the alleged abuse happened over a two-year period when the victims were as young as 10. >> the maryland school for the death is an overnight school. many students stay there during the week. at the time, this suspect was a door aid. he had responsibility for the students who stayed there overnight. >> police are looking into whether there may be more victims. >> authorities have identified the prisoner involved in yesterday's chaotic police-

weapon firing. john dargan is charged with attempted murder but is at this time in moscow. police -- at this time in the hospital. after a brief struggle with medical staff, an officer stepped in and dargan went for the gun. he was handcuffed to a gurney during the entire incident. the officer involved was grazed by the bullet but did not require treatment >> police are trying to track down a masked robber. the problem for the crook, he apparently forgot to keep the disguise on the whole time. take a look at the man in the surveillance pictures. he targeted to the tobacco and gift emporium on annapolis boulevard. he had a jason-type hockey mask on his head, but did not

there is a bit of a war front. to the north and what -- a bit of a warm front. there is more concern along the pennsylvania line and probably carroll and frederick county with patches of freezing rain early tomorrow morning. especially up into pennsylvania where there is a freezing rain advisory in parts of the madness areas -- parts of the mountainous areas. watch for some patchy icy spots. temperatures have probably bottomed out, as long as they will go, and a be starting to climb -- andmay be starting to climb. temperatures today were much cooler than normal with highs only in the low-40's. the typical is 48 degrees. that will change over the weekend. temperatures in the 50's and

60's in atlanta. that surge of warm air comes in for the weekend. and air temperatures on saturday, sunday and monday will be above normal. on saturday, mostly cloudy skies. maybe a light shower or pre sprinkel, but we could also see some sunshine before the wind moves back to the southeast. and another chance of showers to round out the weekend on sunday. tomorrow, not as chilly as today, about normal. shower chances are mainly in the morning. on the day, the wind will be like, coming out of the south, with waves about a foot. you're headed to the mountains for the weekend, temperatures will be uncharacteristically warm. eastern shore, 49 degrees with a shower in the morning and maybe a few sprinkles on saturday, well on to -- well into the 60's for the eastern shore. to buttress will start to climb -- temperatures will start to
